Building Services Manager

Job Introduction

Ready to shape the future of building services?

Are you a motivated, people‑focused operational leader who thrives on the challenge of delivering brilliant repairs and maintenance services?

If the answer’s yes, grab a brew, get comfy… and read on!

Yorkshire Housing is on a mission. We're working hard to deliver safe, well‑maintained homes and to develop a repairs and maintenance service designed to identify and address issues long before they affect our customers. That means moving away from a reactive approach and embracing data, insights and forward‑thinking service design to give our customers the best experience possible.

This is all part of our ambition to become the UK’s best housing provider. Ambitious? Absolutely. But we mean it. And the evolution of our Repairs service is central to that goal.

We’ve been busy bringing more services in‑house, strengthening our operational teams, and improving how we work. Now, we're looking for a Building Services Manager to help lead the next stage of this journey. You’ll shape day‑to‑day operations, drive performance, support your leaders to thrive, and make sure our customers receive a service they can rely on — every single time.

If you’re excited by the sound of positive change, sector‑leading compliance, and motivating talented teams… keep reading.

About Yorkshire Housing

We’re not your typical housing provider. With 20,000+ homes across Yorkshire (and more on the horizon), we’re growing fast and thinking differently. Our goal? To create communities our customers are proud of — through innovation, smart service delivery, and a whole lot of heart.

What you’ll be doing

As our Building Services Manager, you’ll:

  • Lead the delivery of high‑quality day‑to‑day repairs and maintenance across Yorkshire.
  • Guide and support Building Services Team Leaders to deliver top‑tier performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Own the delivery of our Damp, Mould and Condensation programme — ensuring full compliance and safe homes.
  • Manage budgets, contractors and resources to ensure value for money and efficient service.
  • Use data and insight to drive continuous improvement and an efficient, customer obsessed service.
  • Work closely with colleagues in Repairs, Empty Homes, Strategic Asset Management and Procurement — because teamwork makes the dream work.
  • Keep safety, quality and compliance at the heart of everything you do.
  • Champion a culture of accountability, learning and positivity.

Put simply: you’ll play a key part in delivering a service our customers trust and our colleagues are proud of.

What do you need to apply?

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Strong managerial experience in Building Services or a similar operational setting.
  • A passion for delivering brilliant customer experiences — especially for those with diverse needs.
  • Great people skills — you build relationships easily and bring teams together.
  • Commercial awareness and confidence using data to inform decisions.
  • Experience leading people through change and encouraging a culture of learning.
  • An understanding of current housing challenges, especially around Damp & Mould.
  • A leadership approach that lives our values: Create Trust, Be Curious, Make It Happen, Achieve Impact and Have Fun.

A valid UK driving licence is needed — and experience with compliance‑focused programmes is a bonus.

Most importantly, you do the right thing… not the easy thing.

What’s in it for you…

  • £57,336.50 per year (plus £2,000 car allowance)
  • 26 days annual leave (rising to 31!)
  • Matched pension up to 9%
  • Health cash‑plan
  • Flexible, hybrid working

And a workplace that embraces difference, celebrates individuality and reflects the communities we serve. Wherever you’re from or whatever your background — you’re welcome here.
