Sustainability Liaison Officer

Job Introduction

We're on the lookout for a people-focussed Sustainability Liaison Officer to join our team and help guide customers and communities on our journey to net zero.  If you’re great at building relationships and creating trust, this could be the role for you!   You’ll be the go to contact for our customers whose homes are part of our retrofit and energy efficiency programmes of work – explaining what’s happening, offering support and making sure that they feel informed and reassured every step of the way.   You'll also lead customer engagement around retrofit works and help raise awareness of energy efficiency and innovative technologies.

We believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go so if you want to work for a company who are truly flexible and where you are valued then this could be just what you are looking for!

What we’re all about

You might think of Yorkshire Housing as ‘just’ a housing provider. We own and manage nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire and our mission is to make it possible for current and future customers to have a place they’re proud to call home. We’re all about the customer, and our service doesn’t stop once the keys are in the door.

As we push forward our decarbonisation plans, and develop a sustainable portfolio of properties that are fit for the future, we need our customers to understand our approach and be ready for the changes that are to come. So you’ll be at the heart of engaging and communicating with them about retrofit works, and gathering important data along the way.

If you're driven by a desire to help the environment and have a knack for explaining things in a clear, friendly way, this role offers a real chance to make a positive impact. We're looking for someone who enjoys being on the move, meeting people across Yorkshire, and building trusted relationships with our customers.

What you’ll be getting up to

No two days will be the same! You’ll be focusing on engaging with customers, raising awareness, and making energy efficiency and retrofit works simple and easy for everyone to get on board with.   You’ll report into our Sustainability Lead and work in collaboration with our assets, homes and place teams to support our customer journey.

You’ll put customers at the centre of our energy efficiency projects—building trust, offering reassurance, and making the whole process feel easy and stress-free.

To help with that, you’ll create guides and materials in different formats, so we can reach as many customers as possible and make sure there’s always support available.

Being customer obsessed, you’ll also get out and about across the Yorkshire region, attending workshops and meetings, answering questions, tackling concerns, and offering advice to help customers reduce their energy use and feel more confident about the changes happening in their homes.  When you’re not on the road you’ll be able to work from home or from one of our amazing shared workspaces.

Training’s a big part of the role too. You’ll run sessions for customers and colleagues, helping them understand the bigger picture around decarbonisation and the climate crisis.

Alongside our Sustainability Lead, you’ll help build and maintain partnerships with organisations that share our goals and keep an eye out for any funding opportunities that can help us do even more.
