As our surveyor, you’ll be the eyes and ears of Yorkshire Housing, ensuring we are offering the best level of service for our customers so they can live in a safe, secure home. 


What will you be doing?

As the go-to professional for all property-related inquiries, you’ll be instrumental in overseeing repairs, managing empty homes, and addressing complex issues such as damp, mould, and disrepair. Your vigilance will ensure that our customers reside in homes they are delighted to call their own, as you proactively identify and address any concerns, never overlooking a problem. 

Your role involves direct interaction with our customers, attentively listening and recording their queries during visits, embodying professionalism and courtesy at every turn. You’ll be the primary point of contact for intricate cases involving vacant properties, providing your valuable insight on significant works and influencing decisions on property management and disposal. 

Conducting thorough inspections in both occupied and unoccupied homes, you’ll assess maintenance and investment needs, ensuring seamless communication with all relevant teams and the accurate logging of tasks. Your responsibilities extend to comprehensive damp and mould evaluations, along with any related duties that may emerge. 

Taking charge of cases from start to finish, you‘ll offer regular updates to the Repairs Coordinators, adhering to established timelines. Your recommendations will be grounded in evidence, aiming to uphold the high standards of Yorkshire Housing. Collaborating closely with the Strategic Asset Planning teams, your specialised knowledge will contribute significantly to the effective asset management that aligns with our customer's expectations. 

You’ll be a guardian of legal, health and safety, and regulatory standards across our housing stock, promptly escalating any potential risks. Your role also encompasses providing technical guidance and support to various teams within Yorkshire Housing.

What do you need from me?

  • An in-depth knowledge and understanding of building construction, maintenance, health & safety and social housing legislation
  • A diagnostic approach to identifying issues and specifying remedial works
  • Experience in site supervision
  • Commercial expertise, you’ll of worked within budgets and maximising value is your middle name
  • Previous experience in overseeing and inspecting work done by our in house teams or contractors and feel comfortable challenging in our customers best interest on quality of works
  • Ownership and accountability will come naturally to you 
  • Ability to work as a team and fly solo
  • A strong customer centric approach to all that you do
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong IT skills and comfortable adapting to new systems 
  • Full UK driving license, access to a vehicle and willingness to travel
