Job Introduction
We’re looking for a Solutions Architect who can see the big picture and shape how technology truly supports our customers. Sitting at the heart of our Technology, Insight and Change team, you’ll report into and work alongside our Lead Solutions Architect to design smart, scalable solutions that move Yorkshire Housing from legacy systems and reactive fixes to pre-emptive, future ready services. If you enjoy bringing clarity to complex problems and turning business needs into practical, customer focused outcomes, this might be the perfect next step!
We believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go so if you want to work for a company who are truly flexible and where you are valued then this could be just what you’re looking for.
What we’re all about
You might think of Yorkshire Housing as ‘just’ a housing provider, but we’re so much more than that. Yes, we own and manage nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire and make it possible for current and future customers to have a place they’re proud to call home, but we’re also all about making a positive difference in people’s lives.
We’ve got big plans to overhaul the traditional customer service offer, build new homes that are truly future-proof and empower our people through flexibility and freedom to do their best work.
Our tech investment is driving some of our most ambitious change, and this role is key to making it real. As our Solutions Architect, you’ll turn big ideas into smart, scalable solutions that power our shift to a truly pre-emptive customer experience.

What will you be doing?
You’ll work at the centre of our major change programmes, turning business needs into smart, scalable and secure solution designs. That means shaping how systems integrate, guiding technical decisions, documenting clear architecture and supporting delivery teams from idea through to implementation.
In this role, you’ll also:
- Design clear, future ready solution architectures that show how systems connect and support our shift to a more pre-emptive customer experience.
- Pick up project driven, reactive design work, translating requirements into solutions that developers, suppliers and partners can deliver confidently.
- Work closely with the Lead Solutions Architect, offering constructive challenges, peer review and ensuring designs align across the wider organisation.
- Guide decisions on integrations, data, security and non-functional needs, working hand in hand with our Integration Analyst.
- Map and maintain how our systems, processes and people fit together, keeping our architectural roadmap accurate and up to date.
- Identify and assess architecturally significant decisions (ASDs), understanding the risks, impacts and mitigations when changes affect how systems interact.
- Support delivery teams end-to-end, keeping the design intent on track with clear documentation colleagues can rely on.
This role isn’t just about designing systems — it’s about helping us make smarter, more informed decisions that directly shape the future of Yorkshire Housing.
Where will you be working?
This role is agile homeworking, meaning you’ll have the flexibility to work from home most of the time. However, you’ll also need to be able to come into our fabulous Leeds workspace for team meetings, coworking and face-to-face collaboration.
Some weeks you might be in the office more than others, depending on what the business needs — so you’ll need to be flexible and able to travel to Leeds easily. Don’t worry, you’ll always know in advance so you can plan and make arrangements.
Already feel this is the role for you? There’s much more useful information you can read in the Role Profile!
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for an experienced, confident Solutions Architect who can see the whole picture and shape solutions that make a real difference. You’ll bring broad technical knowledge, strong design skills and a clear understanding of how systems, data and processes fit together.
You’ll balance technical depth with a pragmatic, outcome focused mindset and be just as comfortable working with developers as you are with non-technical colleagues.
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Have experience designing solutions across SaaS, PaaS and on-prem environments
- Understand integrations, APIs, identity and security, and can specify how systems should connect
- Can document designs, decisions and risks clearly and support delivery teams through the full lifecycle
- Have worked closely with developers, suppliers and analysts to shape, refine and deliver solution designs
- Think holistically and translate business needs into clear, deliverable designs
- Communicate clearly and collaborate confidently
- Can challenge constructively, stay pragmatic and keep customer outcomes at the heart of decisions
Experience in housing isn’t essential — fresh perspectives from other sectors are genuinely welcome. What matters most is your ability to step in with confidence, bring strong architectural thinking, and help shape the future of tech at Yorkshire Housing.
What’s in it for you…
- Salary: £65,000 per annum (35 hours/week)
- 26 days annual leave (rising to 31 annually) + Bank Holidays
- Permanent contract
