What you’ll be doing?

You’ll be driving the team forward to continue securing a strong land pipeline to ultimately meet our exciting growth strategy.  Activities like securing land suitable for a range of tenures, monitoring development plans and pipelines to ensure targets are met along with keeping the Head of Acquisitions regularly informed will all be key areas of responsibility.

From an external perspective, you’ll be crucial in developing and maintaining regular contact with land owners along with leading on negotiating purchases with agent and owners. Also you’ll be working positively with Local Authorities.   Internally, you’ll liaise with a wide variety of stakeholders keeping teams up to date with progress and handover information to sales.

This will be alongside effective programme management of the land, from a supply perspective. You’ll work with the Head of Acquisitions, to manage the S106 acquisition programme, ensuring targets and financials are met along with required specifications, approvals and funder requirements. All of which will be aligned with the Business Plan. On top of this you’ll actively pursue and secure land purchases for all tenure types, carrying our feasibility studies and making recommendations!

When it comes to reporting, we’ll need you to be comfortable preparing Directors and Board reports on new opportunities and also be able to present to the Development Committee when required.

Sounds good? Here’s what we need from you…

  • Experienced in land buying for residential development and of varying sizes and complexity.
  • Excellent understanding and experience in social and private sector housing developments 
  • Experience of managing land pipelines, budgets and achieving targets.
  • Experience of leading a team to achieve targets.
  • Experience of programme forecasting and financial forecasting. 
  • Knowledge/Experience of negotiating and acquiring S106 affordable housing units
  • Excellent communication and networking skills 
  • Good IT skills 
  • Actively promote value for money and efficiency
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Full UK driving license
  • Eagerness to develop own skills and adapt to change.        
  • Personal values and approach that align with Yorkshire Housing’s values
  • Ability to work flexibly in line with Hub, Home and Roam principles.
  • An understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity and how this is applied through our service to customers and colleagues.

In return, we offer £69,760.48 per annum plus a £2,000 Car Allowance for 35 hours per week with 25 days annual leave (rising annually to 30 days) plus Bank Holidays.
