Job Introduction

We’re looking for a passionate Repairs Supervisor to join our Swarcliffe Repairs Team, working closely with Leeds City Council as part of a PFI contract. You will be an experienced Multi Skilled Operative with supervisory skills, who is customer focussed and passionate about making a difference in the Swarcliffe community. 

You will lead a small team of multiskilled operatives, you will also be completing day to day repairs, cyclical and planned works, you will be responsible for stock control, quality assurance checks and will ensure health and safety is being adhered to.  You will provide technical advice, direction and leadership to enable excellent customer service in line with our values.

We’re looking for someone who will enjoy supporting our diverse customers from all communities, including vulnerable customers. You will be customer focused and enjoy making an impact on customers lives with the ability to communicate in a non-jargon, friendly way about repairs and improvements to their homes.

Our service doesn’t stop once the keys are in the door, and as a Repairs Team Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in making sure our customers feel safe, valued and proud to live in their home from day one. What you’ll be doing?

In our Swarcliffe Repairs team, you’ll undertake day to day property repairs such as joinery, plumbing and other building related works or planned maintenance.

You'll also coordinate and manage multi skilled operatives, ensuring work is carried out efficiently, within timescales and to a high standard to keep our customers happy and safe.  

You’ll be using your own personal initiative, problem-solving any smaller issues on-site to proactively deal with repairs, but also be working as a key player in a bigger team servicing the Swarcliffe community. You’ll work closely with other trades, Estate Caretakers, surveyors as well as administrators, who all work together to provide a high level of service.  

You’ll be the face of Yorkshire Housing to many of our customers. So, respectful, warm and professional communication is a key part of this role. You will naturally be able to deescalate potential complaints and get things done.

Sounds good? Here’s what we need from you… 

  • Extensive and wide-ranging experience undertaking multi skilled property repairs.
  • Strong communication skills and friendly approach. Able to work closely in a close-knit team, and also be the face of Yorkshire Housing to our customers.
  • Team player, able to work across different teams and influence others for successful outcomes for customers.
  • Excellent problem solver, with a focus on fix it first and able to maximise value for money and disruption to our customers.
  • Health & Safety Awareness for yourself, our customers and the people you lead.
  • From time to time, work out of hours to provide repairs and maintenance services as necessary, and may be required to take part in a call out rota for emergency works cover.
  • Computer literate or willingness to adopt to software-based systems after training.
  • Driving license 

It would be a bonus if you had the following:

  • Related Building/Joinery qualification (C&G, NVQ or equivalent)
  • Previous people management experience, ability influence, allocate resources, clearly articulate goals.
  • Advanced Building / trade Craft qualification
  • Experience of working in similar environment such as Social Housing or similar
  • Health & Safety regulations knowledge, such as risk assessments.
