Rent & Service Charge Data Officer

Job Introduction

We’re looking for an organised, highly motivated and proactive Rent and Service Charge Officer to join our brilliant Rent and Service Charge Team. If you’re someone who feels right at home working in Excel - managing large datasets, applying formulas and functions, and producing work with a high degree of accuracy - you’ll thrive in this role.

You’ll be joining an innovative housing provider, with ambitious growth plans, so we’re interested in hearing from individuals who are ready to embrace their next challenge.

We believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go so if you want to work for a company who are truly flexible and where you are valued then this could be the role for you!

A bit more about us

You might think of Yorkshire Housing as ‘just’ a housing provider, but we’re so much more than that.  Yes, we own and manage nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire and make it possible for current and future customers to have a place they’re proud to call home.

But we’re also all about making a positive difference in people’s lives. We’re transforming our business by investing in people, processes and technology to deliver a consistently great experience for our customers.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll spend a lot of your time getting stuck into Excel and working with data to make sure that our rents and services charges are calculated in line with policy and are correctly entered into the rent system.  You’ll also be preparing service charge schedules for various schemes annually, correctly calculating revised charges based on policy, for review and sign off by the Head of Service.

You’ll help keep our housing system up to date, making sure new rents and service charges are uploaded accurately and on time. You’ll also play a key part in producing our annual rent and service charge letters, supporting income and expenditure reports, and answering queries from colleagues and customers in a clear, helpful way.

Keeping accurate, audit‑ready records will be second nature to you, and you’ll always be looking for ways we can make our processes even better. You’ll also help us manage the fair rent register, support any appeals, and prepare and post the monthly service charge journal.

If you’re someone who enjoys working with large datasets, spotting the small details, and using spreadsheets to keep everything running smoothly, you’ll fit right in.

Of course, the full role profile has way more detail, so do check it out!

Sounds good? Here’s what we need from you…

  • Great communication skills and confidence with IT, especially Excel and Word
  • Strong Excel skills for managing and analysing data
  • Accuracy, numeracy and a sharp eye for detail
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
  • Experience handling complex numerical data and creating spreadsheets
  • Organised, proactive and keen to learn

Bonus points if you have:

  • Knowledge of rent and service charge regulations
  • Experience with Open Accounts or Orchard
  • Background in housing finance

What’s in it for you

In return, we offer a salary of £27,998.68 per annum for a 35 hour week, 26 days annual leave (rising annually to 31 days) plus Bank Holidays.
