Job Introduction
Got a knack for getting people talking? Even better at making sure someone actually listens?
We’re looking for a Regional Customer Engagement Officer to help make sure our customers have a real say in the services, decisions and communities that affect them.
This isn’t engagement for engagement’s sake.
You’ll get out there, build relationships, ask the right questions and turn what you hear into useful insight. Most importantly, you’ll help us answer the big question:
“So what changed because our customers spoke up?”
If you’re a people person who loves a good conversation but also wants to see those conversations actually go somewhere, this could be right up your street.
What you’ll be getting up to
No two days are likely to look quite the same.
You’ll take the lead on customer engagement across your allocated region, creating meaningful ways for customers to get involved. That could mean conversations, workshops, surveys, local events, advisory groups or consultations.
You’ll be:
- Getting people talking and making sure different customer voices are heard
- Building brilliant relationships with customers, community groups and local partners
- Turning feedback into insight, spotting themes, concerns and opportunities and helping colleagues understand what they mean
- Closing the loop, showing customers what’s changed as a result of what they’ve told us
- Championing customer voice and helping it shape our services and the way we improve them
- Making engagement genuinely inclusive, accessible and reflective of our different communities
- Supporting formal and regulatory engagement, including Tenant Satisfaction Measures and customer involvement standards.
And there’s another interesting bit.
Alongside your regional patch, you’ll also develop a specialist area, such as EDI, Social Value, Youth Engagement, Digital Inclusion, Older Persons or Volunteering. You’ll build your knowledge, develop good practice and help colleagues across Yorkshire Housing get even better at what we do.
So, if you like a role with plenty of variety, people, purpose and the chance to make things better, there’s lots here to get stuck into.
Who are we looking for?
You don’t need to tick every imaginable box. We’re much more interested in finding someone who understands good engagement and genuinely cares about involving people in the decisions that affect them.
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Have experience in customer engagement, ideally within housing, the public or voluntary sector
- Can communicate confidently with lots of different people and communities
- Know how to gather feedback and turn it into something meaningful
- Are organised enough to keep a few plates spinning across a regional area
- Understand why inclusion and accessibility really matter
- Enjoy working with colleagues and external partners
- Are comfortable getting out there, working independently and using your initiative
- Are curious, adaptable and keen to keep developing. [
Experience of Regulatory Customer Involvement would be a lovely bonus, but it isn’t essential.

And actually, this role gets to live quite a few of those values every day.
