Come join the team as our new People and Culture Advisor

Are you ready to make a real difference and have a blast while doing it? Do you have a knack for creating a workplace where everyone feels valued? If you’re nodding your head, then keep reading because we have the perfect role for you!

As our People and Culture Advisor, you’ll be the go-to person for all things people-related. You’ll support our managers and colleagues, make sure they have the tools, information, and skills they need to succeed. From recruitment to onboarding, health and wellbeing to employee relations, you’ll be a key player in making Yorkshire Housing an employer of choice. Sounds good right?

What you’ll be getting up to:

Be a trusted advisor: You’ll be a pro at building strong relationships with managers and colleagues, providing them with valued advice and support. Developing robust relationships, where you have trust and can challenge when needed; particularly when dealing with employee relations matters. You’ll make sure a colleague obsessed service is delivered to all!

Enhancing the colleague experience: Collaborating with the wider people team such as our fabulous Recruitment Advisors, and the magical HR Operations Team; you’ll help the teams make sure the recruitment and onboarding journey is engaging and inclusive. You’ll also support improvements to this part of the colleague journey, so it just keeps getting better.

Drive engagement: You’ll lead on key projects such as Health and Wellbeing, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and colleague forums. Implementing specific People & Culture/business projects to enhance the colleague experience will be your jam. You’ll be confident to think differently.

Empowering managers: A pro at coaching and supporting managers to handle people-related matters with confidence and compassion. You’ll encourage managers to face people challenges proactively, empowering them to be curious and develop their capabilities.

Deliver insights: Being the go-to people person for your business areas, you’ll provide regular business-critical people insights and updates. Working closely with HR Business Partners to deliver meaningful insights for your business areas, helping to develop action plans that support the People Plan.

Support training and development: Supporting managers to identify training needs; working with HR Business Partners and Learning & Organisational Development Partners to design and deliver effective solutions, so we can continuously develop and improve performance across Yorkshire Housing.

Managing the leavers process: You’ll make sure colleagues receive a considered experience, no matter their reason for leaving. Owning the leaver experience to help us to learn from insights gained to continue to improve the colleague experience for those who stay.

What do you need from me? Well, we’re glad you asked, here’s what we’re after:

  • A proactive, customer-obsessed approach with a passion for improving the colleague experience.
  • A confident and strong communicator with top notch interpersonal skills; you’ll have the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Experience in employee relations, with a focus on early and informal conflict resolution.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or part-qualified, with up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law.
  • A collaborative and innovative mindset, always looking for ways to improve and adapt.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously and prioritise accordingly.
  • Personal values and an approach that align with YH’s values.
  • An understanding of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusivity and how to apply this in service to customers and colleagues.
