Calling all York based natural multi-taskers!!  

If you want to develop a real variety of core building services and kick start your career in the trade environment, you’ve come to the right place! We have an amazing opportunity to join us as a Multi-Trade Apprentice, earn as you learn from our fabulous Repairs & Investment Delivery teams!  

We have big plans for the future here at Yorkshire Housing and growing talent to support our customers across a range of trades plays a huge part in ensuring we can revolutionise our customer service offer.  We’ll invest in you, our expert team will be on hand to support you through growing your technical and personal skills, all while working towards a Level 2 Property Maintenance Qualification. Exciting right? 

 

What will I be doing? 

This is an exciting opportunity where you’ll be doing something different every day and flexing your multi-trade skills and developing them daily. Our Empty Homes team work on site projects, whether this is kitchen refits for some of our current housing stock, or new bathroom installations. And our Building Service teams work in our customers’ homes fixing repairs or making upgrades.  

So, you’ll get a real variety of exposure and get involved in a variety of multi-trade work (plumbing, joinery, plastering and decorating) helping to improving the homes of our Yorkshire Housing customers.  

Your day to day might look something like this: 

  • Supporting the team with providing high quality internal and external building, plumbing, joinery, and decorative services 
  • Providing excellent customer service, treating all customers with respect, kindness and a friendly face 
  • Producing accurate and timely information or records on the work undertaken 
  • Playing an active part, in achieving high first-time fix on repairs, making every attempt to complete responsive repairs at the first visit

What you’ll bring to the role 

  • GCSE Grade C/Level 4 in English and Maths 
  • Enthusiasm for developing a variety of new skills  
  • Passionate about growing a career in multi-skilled trades 
  • Good practical skills with a methodical approach to work 
  • Driven and self-motivated 
  • Passionate about doing the right thing, not the easy thing 
  • Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Excellent teamworking skills 

It would be a bonus if you had 

  • Experience of working in a similar role (maybe you have a family friend you help out in your spare time who works in trades – make sure to pop that on your application!) 
  • A full UK driving licence

In return, we offer a salary of £12,753 per annum for first 12 months then progressing in line with National Minimum Wage in year 2 for 37.5 hours per week, 25 days annual leave (rising annually to 30 days) plus Bank Holidays.

The fine print  

The closing date for applications will be 17/04/2024, but we might close it early if we get lots of fab candidates, so don’t hang around. As this role is an apprenticeship, it’s a 24 month fixed contract, but once your fully qualified we’d work with you to secure you an opportunity with us at Yorkshire Housing as we know good talent when we see it!
