Job Introduction

Ey up! Are you an experienced Joiner looking for a new role in Leeds, West Yorkshire working for an organisation that makes a real difference in peoples’ lives? Well, you’re in the right place.

We’re on the hunt for our next bank of joiners to work in our fabulous Swarcliffe team fitting kitchens, so that means we have more than one opportunity to offer – lucky us! As well as your primary joinery skills it would be great if you had skills in basic plumbing, plastering groundworks etc.

Below you’ll find the basics of what we’re after and what we can offer you, it’s a very exciting time to be joining us here at Yorkshire Housing so have a read and see if it floats your boat.

How much?

The salary is for a 37.5-hour week £16.69 per hour that’s £32,564.12 per annum.

What’s in it for me?

You’ll get 25 days paid annual leave (rising annually to 30) plus Bank Holidays.

A fantastic pension scheme, and we will match your contribution up to 9%.

You’ll get a van & fuel card (which you don’t need to leave at a depot) but you can only use it for work! So, you’ll need a driving license.

We’ll supply the latest power tools, but as a tradesperson you’ll already have your own hand tools.

You can also claim back for medical appointments, prescriptions and more through our colleague cash plan, and access thousands of retail discounts with Perkbox.

When?

You’ll work a 37.5 hour week (that’s 7.5 hour days), between 8.30am and 5pm

We do have to look after our customers 24/7, so you’ll be expected to cover a call out service, but don’t worry, there are lots of willing folk helping out, so the rota is flexible and given in advance notice so you can plan around this (you’ll get paid to be on call and you’ll get your hourly rate if you attend a call out too!)

Where?

Your primary location will be working in the Swarcliffe area of Leeds (LS14).

With who?

You’ll work with an experienced, dynamic and friendly team across the region, and receive training from our experts to ensure you meet our quality guidelines. Opportunities to upskill yourself with various qualifications and move up the ladder too.

Who are we looking for ?

We’re looking for skilled joiners who will focus on fitting bathrooms and ideally, we are looking for people who can hit the ground running, so you’ll have worked in similar repairs and maintenance roles and can turn your hand to other trades.

It would be great if you have worked within social housing, but certainly not a deal breaker! We really just want the skills you can bring to our teams.

You’ll enjoy interacting with our customers and providing a great service.

It’s really important to us that our workforce reflect the diverse communities we serve and are committed to building an inclusive workplace, we welcome applications from all parts of the community.

The finer print

Closing date for applications will be 02.06.24, so don’t wait around as we’ll be speaking to candidates as they apply so the role might close early!

You must hold a full UK driving license for this role, and a basic DBS check will be required if successful.

PS; we call this role internally ‘Multiskilled Operative’, so you might hear us refer to it as that – but the skills we’re really looking for are joiners, who can turn their hands to other trades too (or willing to learn!).

If you’re interested in this role and but want to know more, please email us at recruitment@yorkshirehousing.co.uk and we will help you out.

And what about us?

You might think of Yorkshire Housing as ‘just’ a housing provider, but we’re so much more than that. We own and manage nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire and make it possible for current and future customers to have a place they’re proud to call home.

We are currently going through an exciting period of expansion, and we can guarantee you work in the Yorkshire area, where you can really make a difference to people’s lives and have job stability.

Our service doesn’t stop once the keys are in the door, and as part of our team, you’ll play a key role in making sure our tenants feel safe, valued and proud to live in a YH home from day one.

Our values

We’re looking for people who want to get stuck in and make a positive difference to people’s lives. We want you to own the work you do and achieve impact.

You’ll make it happen by being curious and creating trust with our customers and each other. We want you to love what you do and have fun along the way.
