Housing Assistant Apprentice

We have an amazing opportunity to join us as our new Housing Assistant Apprentice, you’ll be the lynchpin of Place Team who support our customers in front line housing services, supporting them with all things administration as well as providing a customer obsessed service.  You’ll also have the opportunity to learn new skills, work with a diverse and friendly team, and grow your career with us.

What will I be doing?  

This is an exciting opportunity where you’ll be learning something new each day and developing key skills and understanding of what it means to be a member of the YH Place Team. You’ll make sure our customers’ enquiries gets to the right person or resolved at first point of contact. Your aim will be to deliver exceptional levels of service to a diverse customer base. Quite frankly it’s about being Customer Obsessed!  

Here’s what you’ll be getting up to: 

  • Providing an excellent customer obsessed experience & focussing on first time resolution, ensuring our customers feel listened to and keeping them informed along the way 
  • Working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a quality and seamless customer journey  
  • Speaking with customers about their issues and signposting them to the best service, you’ll be exposed to the full range of our customer journey and will have exposure to how we sign up new customers, support existing ones and wave goodbye to those leaving us 
  • Learning and supporting with de-escalating low-level complaints  
  • Providing administrative support to the place team such as taking meeting minutes, reference requests for outgoing customers and arranging parking permits and replacement fobs for customers  
  • You’ll be getting out and about across Yorkshire as you travel shadowing the team, learning about frontline housing services  

 

What you’ll bring to the role: 

  • 4 GCSE’s at Grade 4 (C) or above including English and Maths 
  • Customer obsessed, an understanding our customers come from a wide variety of diverse backgrounds and have unique needs 
  • Adaptability, you’ll be comfortable and confident with a last-minute change to your schedule  
  • A pride and passion in your work, you’ll have superb attention to detail 
  • Strong communication skills, you’ll be comfortable and confident picking up the phone and speaking to colleagues and customers  
  • An eagerness to develop your own skills 

It would be a bonus if you had: 

  • Work experience in a similar role or knowledge of social housing

In return, we offer a salary of £15,015 to £16,744 per annum dependant on experience for 35 hours per week, 25 days annual leave (rising annually to 30 days) plus Bank Holidays.

The fine print  

The closing date for applications will be 16th March 2025 but we might close it early if we get lots of fab candidates, so don’t hang around. As this role is an apprenticeship, it’s a 24-month fixed term contract, but once you’re fully qualified, we’d work with you to secure you an opportunity with us at Yorkshire Housing as we know good talent when we see it! 

Your learning will be supported by our online provider, and you’ll attend either on day release or block release, ensuring that all of your assignments and assessments are completed as you work towards your qualifications.
