Head of Treasury and Financial Planning

Job Introduction

Do you want to shape the future of financial decision-making at Yorkshire Housing?

This is an opportunity to step into a key leadership role where you’ll help shape how we plan, fund and deliver for our customers and communities - at a time of real change and ambition for Yorkshire Housing.

As our Head of Treasury and Financial Planning, and part of the Finance Leadership Team, you’ll lead a critical function right at the heart of the business. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you’ll bring together Treasury and Financial Planning, making sure our long-term plans are strong, well-funded and built on clear, meaningful insight.

This isn’t about maintaining the status quo. We’re going through a period of transformation, with new systems and smarter ways of working being introduced across Finance and the wider business. You’ll play a big part in making that work - improving how we use data, simplifying processes and helping people make better, more informed decisions across the organisation.

We believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go, so if you’re looking for a genuinely flexible organisation where you’re trusted, supported and valued, this could be the role for you.

What we’re all about

You might think of Yorkshire Housing as ‘just’ a housing provider, but we’re so much more than that. Yes, we own and manage nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire and make it possible for current and future customers to have a place they’re proud to call home, but we’re also all about making a positive difference in people’s lives.

We’ve got big plans to overhaul the traditional customer service offer, build new homes that are truly future-proof and empower our people through flexibility and freedom to do their best work.

What will you be doing?

As Head of Treasury and Financial Planning, you’ll lead a multi-disciplinary team covering treasury, financial planning and performance, bringing clarity and direction in a busy, fast-paced environment.

You’ll take ownership of our long-term business plan, making sure it’s aligned with our funding strategy, risk appetite and organisational priorities. That includes leading scenario modelling, helping us understand the impact of key risks and supporting balanced, well-informed decision-making.

You’ll also lead our treasury activity - overseeing funding, liquidity and covenant compliance, and building strong relationships with lenders and partners to make sure we’re well-positioned for the future.

Alongside this, you’ll play a key role in strengthening how we use data and insight across the organisation, helping teams make better decisions and driving ongoing improvements in how we plan and deliver.

In this Agile Homeworking role, much of your time will be spent working from home.  But you’ll need to be able to come into our Leeds workspace as and when needed for team meetings, co‑working and those moments when it’s just easier (and nicer!) to get around a table together.

If this sounds like your kind of role and you’re keen to find out more, the attached Role Profile has all the detail you need!

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who can bring strong leadership across both treasury and financial planning, with the ability to see the bigger picture while staying close to the detail. You’ll be comfortable operating at a senior level, working with the Executive team and senior leaders, and able to provide clear insight, challenge and support to help shape important decisions.

Just as importantly, you’ll be someone who can lead and develop a team, set direction and help prioritise in a busy, fast-moving environment.

You’ll bring solid experience of financial planning, funding and risk, along with a recognised professional UK accounting qualification. You’ll be confident navigating complexity and competing priorities, able to turn data into meaningful insight, simplify the way things are done and help the organisation make better, more informed decisions.

Most of all, we’re looking for someone who is collaborative, pragmatic and forward-looking -someone who is excited by the opportunity to play a key role in how Yorkshire Housing plans for the future and delivers for its customers and communities.

What’s in it for you…

  • Salary: £85,113.69 per annum (35 hours/week)
  • 26 days annual leave (rising to 31 annually) + Bank Holidays
  • Permanent Contract

We offer a reward package to suit everyone. At YH, you can claim back for prescriptions, eye tests and more with our cash plan, make the most of a variety of retail discounts and take advantage of our pension scheme where we’ll match your contributions up to 9%, just to name a few.

Our people’s health and wellbeing are one of our top priorities, and you can make the most of our readily available wellbeing support package. This includes access to a library of free fitness classes, as well as an instant My GP service and free counselling sessions with a trained professional.
