We’re looking for an out of the box thinker to join us as our brand new Head of Colleague Experience working in the midst of our fabulous People and Culture team ; reporting into our Director of People and Culture, you’ll be joining us at a pivotal time and we’re dead excited to hear from you – pop the kettle on and have a read of what we’re after.

What will I be doing? 

As our Head of Colleague Experience, you’ll be the mastermind behind creating a workplace where colleague really thrive.  You’ll lead the charge in ensuring our people, processes, and systems are perfectly aligned to support an amazing experience for all colleagues. Your mission? To embed agile working practices, craft an innovative and flexible employment offer, and attract and retain the brightest talent out there. We’ve broken down some key responsibilities here: 

Leadership: Be the inspiring leader who guides the team to greatness. Provide coaching and professional development to help them grow as HR superstars. Collaborate with leaders across the business to develop and implement plans that align with our business strategy. 

Colleague experience: Be the champion of a customer-obsessed approach to colleague experience. Transform our workspaces and create an environment where colleagues can truly be themselves. You’ll also drive the delivery of our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (E,D&I) plan. 

People and culture strategy: Partner with the Director of People & Culture to develop and implement plans that respond to changing business contexts and people priorities. Build trusted relationships with leaders and managers to tackle people-related challenges head-on. 

Performance: Foster a high-performance culture within your team. Continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the HR team, ensuring excellent customer experience and value for money. 

Communication and engagement: Lead and manage communications within your team and across the wider Yorkshire Housing Leadership Team. Form positive working relationships with the Executive Team, Directors, and Heads of Service. 

 

Sounds right up my street, what do you need from me? 

Bravery to challenge the norm: You’ll be a pro at challenging the norm, you’ll be confident in questioning and pushing against established practices, behaviours, and policies. Critically examining the status quo – you’ll be our go to colleague for proposing new, often unconventional, ideas or methods to improve or innovate.  

Visionary leadership: Extensive experience leading People/HR teams and strategies, with a flair for inspiring and motivating others. 

People skills: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels. 

Change champion: Enthusiastic for change and a no-nonsense approach? You’ll have proven experience in leading and embedding change and employee engagement strategies that make a real impact. 

Agility advocate: Commitment to creating an agile and flexible working culture that adapts to the needs of our colleagues. 

Innovative mindset: .Innovation is our middle name at Yorkshire Housing, and we’d expect it to be yours too! We have huge growth plans, and that involves a lot of change and transformation…this is where you come in. You’ll have a creative and innovative approach to HR, with a track record of challenging traditional thinking and finding new solutions. 

Cool under pressure: Excellent decision-making skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations. 

HR extraordinaire: Extensive knowledge of employee relations and employment law, ensuring we stay ahead of the curve. 

Wordsmith: Strong written skills, including experience preparing professional reports that captivate and inform. 

It would be the icing on our cake if you were a charted MICPD or equivalent and had experience in operating and leading in an agile environment. The Role Profile attached is super detailed for you to have a look through too! 

 

What’s in it for you?   

This is a permanent full-time role,with a salary of £75,000 per annum for a 35-hour week, 25 days annual leave (rising annually to 30 days) plus Bank Holidays.

The fine print   

The closing date for applications will be 04.08.24, but we might close it early if we get lots of fab candidates, so don’t hang around. We’re hoping to host first stage interviews around w/c 09.08 with second stage taking place shortly after in Leeds city centre.
