Gas Team Leader (Commercial and Contracts)

Job Introduction

We’re looking for an experienced and customer focused Gas Team Leader (Commercial and Contracts) to join our Gas and Mechanical Services team, leading the delivery of commercial gas repair, servicing, and installation contracts across our homes and properties in Yorkshire.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring contractors deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality services, while providing leadership, technical expertise, and operational oversight to achieve excellent outcomes for our customers.

We believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go — so if you want to work for a company that is truly flexible and where you are valued, this could be the role for you!

What we’re all about

Here at Yorkshire Housing, our customers are at the heart of what we do – we call it being customer obsessed. We own and manage nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire, with a mission to make it possible for our customers to have a place they’re proud to call home.

Delivering safe, reliable, and compliant gas and mechanical services is a key priority for us. As a Team Leader, you’ll play a vital role in managing contractor performance, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring our customers receive a high-quality service every time.

What will you be doing?

You’ll provide leadership, support, and technical expertise to contractors delivering commercial gas and mechanical services, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with organisational priorities.

Working closely with the Senior Team Leader, Service Manager and a range of internal and external stakeholders, you’ll oversee operational delivery, monitor performance, and support effective resource planning.

Your role will involve a combination of contractor management, technical oversight, and operational leadership, helping to drive improvements in service delivery, customer satisfaction, compliance, and value for money.

You’ll also:

  • Lead and manage contractors delivering commercial gas and mechanical services
  • Monitor performance, quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction, ensuring KPI targets are achieved
  • Provide technical guidance on gas safety, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee audits, compliance checks, contractor reviews, and performance reporting
  • Manage customer complaints and support the prompt resolution of operational issues
  • Build strong relationships with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
  • Support resource planning, budget management, and service improvements
  • Ensure accurate records, documentation, and systems are maintained
  • Participate in the out-of-hours management escalation rota

This is a varied and fast-paced role where you’ll combine technical expertise, leadership skills, and commercial awareness to deliver a high-performing service for our customers.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who is technically confident, customer focused, and passionate about delivering excellent services.

You’ll bring:

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience within commercial gas and mechanical services
  • Current domestic and commercial ACS gas qualifications, including COCN1/CODNCO1, TPCP1/TPCP1A, CIGA1, CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1 and HTR1
  • Experience managing contractors, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance
  • A strong understanding of health and safety legislation and industry best practice
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
  • Experience carrying out audits, quality checks, and driving service improvements
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and make sound decisions
  • Good IT skills and confidence using operational management systems
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach and commitment to continuous improvement
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

Experience with renewable technologies, including air source heat pumps, would be advantageous but is not essential.

What’s in it for you…

We offer an excellent salary of £46,659 plus £2,000 car allowance per year (35 hours per week), plus 26 days annual leave (rising each year to 31 days) and Bank Holidays.

You’ll also get a benefits package to suit you, including a health cash plan (claim back on things like prescriptions and eye tests), retail discounts, and our pension scheme where we’ll match your contributions up to 9%.

We work flexibly with our hub, home, roam approach, and we’ll support your development with a range of internal and external training opportunities.

Your wellbeing matters too. You’ll have access to our wellbeing support package, including a library of free fitness classes, an instant My GP service, and free counselling sessions with a trained professional.
