As a Finance Apprentice, you’ll work alongside our friendly and knowledgeable Finance team, supporting our Finance Business Partners with financial analysis, reporting and decision making.
There will be some transactional tasks, but this role goes far beyond that. You’ll learn why our processes matter, how financial data drives decisions, and how your work influences the wider business. And with our new, more intuitive finance system in place when you join us, you’ll spend less time on manual admin and more time exploring what the numbers actually mean.
You’ll gain hands on experience across a wide range of finance activities while developing strong analytical and problem solving skills. We’ll support you every step of the way, with full on the job training and guidance from experienced finance professionals.

What qualification will I be working towards?
You’ll be working towards a Level 4 Accounting Technician qualification.
This will involve:
- One day per week dedicated to study
- College attendance (in Leeds) as and when required
- Completing all required assignments, assessments and exams alongside your role
What will I be doing?
You’ll be supported, mentored and encouraged as you build your confidence and capability within the Finance team. Your role will give you exposure to how financial information supports business decisions across the organisation.
Here’s some of what you’ll be getting involved in:
- Supporting Finance Business Partners with analysis and decision support
- Assisting with financial modelling and performance analysis
- Helping to produce monthly finance reports and other management information
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and long term planning activities‑term planning activities
- Working with colleagues across finance and the wider business to understand performance drivers
- Contributing to statutory, regulatory and external reporting where required
- Building strong working relationships across teams
- Attending college and completing all apprenticeship requirements
- As you grow in the role, you may also be asked to take on additional responsibilities that support your development.
This role comes with an agile home working contract, which means you’ll spend much of your time working from home. You’ll also come into our workspace in Leeds for finance team meetings, coworking sessions and development days. We’ll actively encourage you to get out and about too - visiting our sites, seeing the work Yorkshire Housing does firsthand, and understanding the services we provide to our customers.
What you’ll bring to the role:
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and keen to learn. You don’t need previous finance experience - we’ll teach you - but you should be comfortable working with numbers and data.
You’ll also have:
- 2 A Levels (Grades A–D) or equivalent
- 5 GCSEs (Grades 9–4 / A–C) or equivalent, including English and Maths
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
- The ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong team‑working skills with a flexible approach
- Basic experience using Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office tools
- An interest in using data and technology to support analysis
It would be a bonus if you have:
- Some experience working in an office environment
- Intermediate Excel skills

To get started on this apprenticeship, you’ll need to:
- Be 16 or over on 7th September 2026
- Be able to live and work in the UK, and have lived here for the past three years
- Not already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level or higher
- Not be in full‑time or part‑time education when your apprenticeship begins
