Director of Development & Homeownership

Job Introduction

Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for creating thriving communities and delivering exceptional homes? Do you have the vision, drive, and expertise to spearhead one of Yorkshire's most ambitious housing development programs? If so, then this could be the role for you!

We’re on the lookout for an exceptional leader to join us as our new Director of Development and Homeownership. If you’re looking for a challenge where you can truly shape the future of housing across the region – this is it.

About Yorkshire Housing

You can probably already tell that we’re not your typical housing provider! With around 20,000 homes (and more in the pipeline), we’re on track with our growth plan to build 8,000 new homes across Yorkshire.

At Yorkshire Housing, we’re not just about bricks and mortar – we’re about people, communities, and creating a better future. This role is fundamental to our long-term success. By delivering high-quality new homes and expanding our homeownership offering, you will directly contribute to our vision of becoming the UK’s best housing provider.

What will I be doing?

Reporting into the Exec Director of Growth and Assets you’ll lead a high-performing team across Development, Sales, Homeownership, and Commercial Assets. This is an opportunity to drive a large Development programme as well as shape the future of homeownership through our Space Homes brand. Customer experience across the departments will be a priority and you’ll also oversee the commercial management of leasehold and market rent portfolios. We’ve broken down some key responsibilities here:

Drive Growth – Lead the delivery of our ambitious development targets, creating new opportunities and pioneering sustainable developments.

Create Thriving Communities – Oversee construction, aftercare, and the customer journey for the areas to ensure we deliver homes we’re proud of.

Lead with Impact – Inspire multi-skilled teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.

Maximise Commercial Success – Ensure strong financial performance across market rent, shared ownership, and leasehold services.

Strengthen Partnerships – Build relationships with Homes England, local authorities, and key stakeholders to drive forward Yorkshire Housing’s mission.

What do you need to apply?

It goes without saying that you’ll already be an established senior leader with a proven track record of delivering large-scale housing development programmes. You’ll have strong commercial acumen and experience in managing multi-tenure housing portfolios along with the ability to inspire and lead diverse teams to deliver outstanding results.

You’ll need to be able to think with the customer always in mind and have a passion for people with strong influencing and relationship management skills as well as confidence to engage with Executive Teams, Boards, external partners, and regulators.

We’re looking for someone with an understanding of the housing sector’s challenges as well as a passion for sustainability and innovation in housing development.

What’s in it for you…

A salary of £110,000, 31 days annual leave (rising annually to 36 days), health cash-plan, matched pension contributions up to 9%, just to name a few.

We have a flexible approach to work so living in Yorkshire isn’t a requirement of the role (although we’ll expect to see a fair bit of you here!).

Our working environment is inclusive as well as diverse. We believe difference is what makes us stronger and recognise the importance of our teams reflecting the communities we serve, so we welcome and encourage candidates from all backgrounds for this role.
