Job Introduction
Are you creative, curious and always thinking about how something could be made more engaging?
Maybe you love creating videos, graphics or digital content. Perhaps you’re interested in how technology can make learning more exciting. Or you might be the person who can take something complicated and find a much simpler, more visual way of explaining it.
If that sounds like you, this could be a brilliant opportunity to turn those skills into a career.
Let us tell you more…
As our Digital Learning Designer Apprentice, you’ll join our Learning & Development team and help us create digital learning that colleagues actually want to use.
You’ll get hands-on experience creating e-learning, videos, guides, infographics and digital resources, while learning how to take a learning need or a big idea and turn it into something engaging, accessible and easy to understand.
You'll also help look after our Learning Hub, support learning campaigns and programmes, and explore new digital tools and technology that could make learning at Yorkshire Housing even better.
And while you're doing all that, you'll be working towards a Level 5 Digital Learning Designer Apprenticeship, giving you the chance to build your experience and gain a recognised qualification at the same time.
This is all about learning while doing. You’ll be developing your skills while working on real learning projects at Yorkshire Housing, putting what you learn through your apprenticeship into practice.
What will I be doing?
No two projects will look exactly the same. You could be creating a new piece of digital learning one day, helping promote a learning campaign the next, or testing out a new tool to see how it could improve the colleague learning experience.
Here’s some of what you’ll get involved in:
- Creating digital learning content including e-learning, videos, guides, infographics and other resources
- Bringing ideas to life, working with Learning Leads, Trainers and subject experts to turn learning needs into engaging digital solutions
- Supporting our Learning Hub, helping keep content accurate, accessible, organised and up to date
- Creating digital assets and promotional content for learning programmes, events and campaigns
- Helping tell our learning stories, sharing updates, successes and best practice through our communications
- Uploading and testing digital content, making sure everything works as it should
- Exploring new technology and digital tools to find fresh ways of helping colleagues learn
- Gathering feedback and using it to continually improve the learning experiences we create
Most importantly, you won’t just be watching from the sidelines. You’ll be getting involved in real work that helps colleagues across Yorkshire Housing learn, develop and perform at their best.
What you’ll bring to the role
We’re looking for someone with ideas, curiosity and a genuine interest in digital content and learning.
You’ll enjoy being creative, trying new things and figuring out how to turn information into something people will actually want to engage with.
You’ll need:
- A degree, or equivalent experience creating digital content, learning solutions, communications or user-focused digital resources
- At least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above, including English and Maths
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
- Good organisation and attention to detail
- The ability to build positive relationships and work collaboratively
- An interest in learning, development and digital content
- Confidence using digital tools and technology
- A willingness to learn, experiment and embrace new technology.
It would be a bonus if you have…
Experience creating presentations, videos, graphics or other digital content, or using creative and multimedia software such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar tools.
Some understanding of learning and development, learning technologies, learning management systems or digital communication platforms would be great too.
But remember, this is an apprenticeship. We’re not looking for someone who already knows everything. We’re looking for someone with the foundations, creativity and curiosity to grow.
So, if you’re reading this thinking “I could do this, but I don’t tick absolutely every box”, don’t let that stop you.
A bit more about us
We’re Yorkshire by name and by nature.
At Yorkshire Housing, we make it possible for people to have a place they’re proud to call home, whether that’s to rent or buy. And it’s our people who make that happen.
That means helping our colleagues keep learning and developing really matters.
As our Digital Learning Designer Apprentice, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape how learning feels at Yorkshire Housing, creating experiences and resources that help colleagues build their skills and do their best work.
And you’ll be joining an organisation where we want you to be curious, keep learning, think differently, make things happen and have some fun along the way.
What’s in it for you?
Alongside your Level 5 Digital Learning Designer Apprenticeship, you’ll get:
- Hands-on experience creating real digital learning solutions
- Salary of £21,840 per year, increasing to NMW for age in Year 2
- Experience using learning technologies and creating digital content
- Support and development from experienced Learning & Development colleagues
- The chance to experiment with new tools and ideas
- An opportunity to make a genuine impact on how colleagues learn and develop across Yorkshire Housing.
The role comes with an Agile Homeworking contract, giving you flexibility while still creating opportunities to collaborate and learn with colleagues.
So, now you’re really interested?
If you’re creative, digitally curious and excited by the idea of designing learning rather than simply consuming it, we’d love to hear from you.
Show us what makes you curious. Tell us what you love creating. And let us see the potential you could bring to Yorkshire Housing.
Your career in digital learning could start right here.
