Job Introduction
Are you excited by the world of AI, data and emerging tech? Do you enjoy solving problems and exploring new digital tools. Can you roll with change like a pro? If you’re inventive, driven and ready to learn at pace, this could be the ideal role to launch your digital career!
Let us tell you more…
Your work will help us share the amazing things happening across Yorkshire Housing - including how we support our customers and communities and give people a place they’re proud to call home. As a not‑for‑profit organisation driven by social purpose, everything we do aims to make a genuine, positive impact.
You’ll be right at the heart of supporting the development of our digital services that support our communities, from new bots and self‑service tools to updates in our customer portal. You’ll help create content, support colleagues and customers to use our tech confidently, and use data and feedback to guide future improvements.
You’ll be supported every step of the way with on‑the‑job training from experienced digital professionals, plenty of space to learn and grow, and a brilliant team who’ll cheer you on as you go.
What qualification will I be working towards?
You’ll be working towards a Level 4 Artificial Intelligence and Automation Practitioner qualification.
This will involve:
- Completing learning one day per week – either at college or accessing remote learning
- Working on real digital and AI projects to build your skills and portfolio
- Completing all assignments, assessments and apprenticeship requirements alongside your role
What will I be doing?
You’ll be supported, mentored and encouraged as you grow your confidence and skills across our digital tools, platforms and ways of working.
Here’s some of what you’ll be getting involved in:
- Helping design and test new digital features like bots, self‑service tools and updates to our portal
- Creating and updating clear, helpful content for our knowledge platforms and digital channels
- Exploring AI and digital tech to spot opportunities for improvements or new ideas
- Looking at data and insight to understand how people use our digital services
- Helping teams across YH get to grips with new tools and explaining how they work
- Supporting colleagues to confidently talk about and promote our digital services to residents
- Creating simple guides, how‑to content and digital comms to help people get the most from our tools
- Taking part in user testing, accessibility checks and journey mapping
- Working with the Head of Customer Digital Enablement, Operations and Transformation teams on projects
- Providing general support to keep digital work moving smoothly - from organising feedback sessions to capturing actions
This role comes with an agile homeworking contract - so you’ll spend a lot of your time working from home. You’ll come into our Leeds workspace for team catch ups and other meetings as and when needed, and you’ll have the freedom to collaborate with colleagues whenever people are in the office. It’s very flexible, and we trust you to work in a way that suits you.
As you grow in the role, you might be asked to take on additional responsibilities that support your development and broaden your experience.
What you’ll bring to the role:
We’re looking for someone who’s enthusiastic, adaptable and excited about the world of digital tech and AI. You don’t need to be an expert - we’ll teach you - but we’re looking for a real passion and drive to get stuck into the exciting digital projects that are on the horizon.
This is a fast‑paced, ever‑evolving environment, so you’ll need to be comfortable working in a team where priorities shift and where new ideas and improvements come thick and fast. You’ll be right at the heart of change and new developments that shape the experience of the people who use our services.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 5 GCSEs (C/4 or above) including English and Maths
- 2 A Levels (A–D) or equivalent
- A strong interest in AI, digital tools and emerging technology (experience is a bonus, but not essential)
- Confidence using everyday digital platforms and curiosity about trying out new tech
- A positive approach to learning, asking questions and getting stuck in
- Good communication skills and the ability to explain things simply
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your time
- Comfortable working with numbers and data
- The ability to make sense of data and tell the story behind it
- Initiative, professionalism and a collaborative mindset
If you’re reading this and thinking “I don’t meet every single requirement” - don’t let that put you off. We’re interested in potential, attitude and willingness to learn just as much as experience.
To get started on this apprenticeship, you’ll need to:
- Be 16 or over on 7th September 2026
- Be able to live and work in the UK, and have lived here for the past three years
- Not already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level or higher
- Not be in full‑time or part‑time education when your apprenticeship begins
