We’re looking for a Development Officer to join our brilliant Development team.  This is a role with meaning, so you’ll be coming in and making a real difference to thousands of customers lives, by co-ordinating the delivery and completions of the S106 programme.  You can work where, when and how you want with our hub, home, roam approach around the Yorkshire region.

What you’ll be getting up to

Your days will be varied, and you will be working closely with the Clerk of Works and other teams to ensure all information and certification is available, recorded and meets the Yorkshire Housing Standards.

You’ll communicate with site teams and developers, undertaking site visits to ensure quality is of a continuously high standard, and that handover dates are accurate.

With responsibility for cashflow and reporting to finance and treasury, you’ll be using IT systems for cash flow forecasting and budget monitoring, along with raising purchase orders and filing audit information to assist the charging and refinancing of the properties.

To ensure the smooth delivery of the S106 programme, you’ll be working with the internal Senior Project Manager and Development Project Assistant to provide programme forecasts and ensure continuous monitoring is undertaken.

You’ll manage appointed contractors, consultants, solicitors, valuers etc. in line with contracts, appointment letters and framework agreements.

Keeping up to date with new regulations and requirements, you’ll feedback updates to your team and plan for future changes.

We are looking for a strong problem solver who is able to work with multiple teams to complete the programme smoothly.

  • Knowledge of the construction process
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of tasks
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Experience of working in a fast past environment
  • Use own initiative  
  • Able to manage own time effectively by prioritising and managing a number of tasks simultaneously
  • Good IT skills (including MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Able to meet deadlines, and manage changing deadlines successfully
  • Demonstrates clear communication across both internal and external stakeholders
  • Full UK driving license (with ability to travel regularly to our sites across Yorkshire)
  • Eagerness to develop own skills and adapt to change.  
  • Personal values and approach that align with YH’s values
  • Ability to work flexibly in line with Hub, Home and Roam principles.
  • An understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity and how this is applied through our service to customers and colleagues.

It would be a bonus if you had:

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Experience with a developer / housebuilder
  • Experience of working in a target driven environment
  • Use of invoicing systems
  • Experience of line-management

In return, we offer a salary of £38,939.00 per annum, with a £2,000 Car Allowance for 35 hours per week, 25 days annual leave (rising annually to 30 days) plus Bank Holidays.
