Job Introduction
Do you want to play a key part in shaping our future by helping to deliver our business strategy?
We’re on the lookout for a financially astute and forward-thinking professional to join us as our new Board Member. This is a fantastic opportunity to support Yorkshire Housing on our journey to becoming the UK’s best housing provider.
What you’ll be doing
This role sits on our Yorkshire Housing Board, which is responsible for ensuring the success of the organisation through the delivery of our business strategy. You’ll work closely with other Board Members and stakeholders to provide strategic oversight, challenge, and support—particularly in areas that underpin our financial strength and long-term sustainability.
You’ll use your financial expertise and leadership skills to help drive performance, ensure robust financial governance, and maintain compliance with our legal and regulatory obligations. The Board meets at least four times a year, mostly virtually, with two in-person strategy days.
The stuff that sets you apart
We are seeking a new Board Member with strong expertise in finance—particularly in areas such as treasury, capital markets, cashflow management, statutory financial reporting, value for money, and finance technology.
These skills are critical to supporting our ambitious development programme, ensuring financial resilience, and enabling us to invest in the homes and services our customers deserve.
If you have a passion for social purpose and want to make a meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you—regardless of whether you’ve previously served on a board. Yorkshire Housing is committed to fostering a welcoming and diverse environment for all.
What’s in it for you?
In addition to being a fantastic role, this position offers a chance to challenge yourself and contribute to something that really matters. The commitment is approximately 2 days per month, with a salary of £11,250 per annum.
So, now you’re really interested?
At Yorkshire Housing, we’re proud to be building a place where everyone—no matter their background, identity, or age—can thrive, contribute meaningfully, and truly be themselves.
We welcome applications from people of all ages, experiences, and walks of life. We believe that diversity of thought and lived experience makes us stronger. And we know that great talent doesn’t always follow a traditional path.
So even if you don’t tick every box in the role description, but you’ve got the passion, skills, and drive to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you. Your unique perspective might be exactly what we need.
We’re especially keen to hear from people under 35 and those from the LGBTQ+ community, as these voices are currently underrepresented on our Board. Appointments will be made on merit.
