Board Member

Job Introduction

Do you want to play a key part in shaping our future by helping to deliver our business strategy?

We’re on the lookout for two dynamic and forward-thinking professionals to join us as Board Members. This is a fantastic opportunity to support us on our journey to being the UK’s best housing provider.

What you’ll be doing

These roles sit on our Yorkshire Housing Limited Board, which is responsible for ensuring the success of the organisation through delivery of our business strategy. You’ll work closely with other Board Members and stakeholders to provide strategic oversight, challenge and support, helping to drive our key priorities and ensure they are delivered effectively.

You’ll use your leadership, insight and experience to drive strong organisational performance and ensure we meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

The Board meets at least four times a year, mostly virtually, with two in-person strategy days.   You’ll also be expected to sit on at least one of our committees.

The stuff that sets you apart

Based on our latest skills analysis we are interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Organisational culture and change leadership – supporting transformation, embedding values and driving performance improvement.
  • Housing sector knowledge and experience of the regulatory environment - enabling effective Board oversight of strategy, risk, compliance and customer outcomes.
  • Customer-focused operational experience – understanding how to deliver high-quality services at scale and improved outcomes for customers

If you have a passion for social purpose and want to make a meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you—regardless of whether you’ve previously served on a board. Yorkshire Housing is committed to fostering a welcoming and diverse environment for all.

What’s in it for you?

In addition to being a fantastic role, these positions offer a chance to challenge yourself and contribute to something that really matters.

  • Commitment: approximately 2 days per month
  • Salary: £11,920 per annum

So, now you’re really interested?

At Yorkshire Housing, we’re actively building an inclusive and diverse work environment where everyone can contribute their best work and be themselves.

We recognise there is an opportunity to broaden both generational diversity and gender balance on our Board. We welcome applications from people of all ages, experiences and walks of life. We believe that diversity of thought and lived experience makes us stronger, and we know that great talent doesn’t always follow a traditional path.
